Drawn to the weir

Last week I was lucky enough to get out painting in the open air twice - both times, I found myself painting weirs, though in two separate counties - one in Oxfordshire on the Thames and the other tucked away in a quiet corner behind and below the towpath off the Kennet and Avon canal at Benham in West Berkshire.  There is something both thrilling and soothing at the same time, watching and listening to the rush of water tumbling over a weir.
